The GuitarTown Project is a public arts program that features 10-foot tall fiberglass guitars and regular size guitars artistically designed by visual artists and musical artists, sponsored by local businesses and individuals.
The sculptures will be on display from July ’05 to January ‘06, after which they will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting designated Nashville non-profit and charitable organizations.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The United Way, Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, and the Downtown District.
The project is administered through the Gibson Foundation, a 501 ©3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of life through its support of the arts, education, health and welfare, and environmental causes.

As presenting sponsor of the Guitartown Project, Gibson Guitar, a Nashville based corporation, provided the project with an initial $50,000 to help underwrite initial costs. Additional income for the Guitartown Project is being raised through various levels of sponsorship and a collectible book to be issued in 2005.

Each sponsorship level includes the cost of the guitar sculpture or guitar and administrative costs associated with the production and servicing:
